Itinerary

Luang Prabang Full-day city tour & Elephant Ride

Your full day city tour begins with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artefacts. We then explore the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. Continue to Wat Visoun, Luang Prabang’s oldest temple and was once home to the Prabang Buddhas. From there we stroll around Wat Aham, which was once the residence of Sangkharat, the supreme head of Lao Buddhism.

In the afternoon, we will drive out of the city to visit Ban Xangkhong and the Thai Lue Village, which are famous for their arts and crafts. Then head to the nearby

village of Ban Xienglek specializing in making the traditional Saa paper. Afterwards, we come back to town and continue our visit to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre to learn about Laos’ many ethnic cultures.

In the late afternoon, we climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic sunset view over the city and the Mekong River.  We continue to visit the famous Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Before your trip ends, you will have a chance to enjoy the interesting experience of an approximately 30-minute Elephant ride.
