Itinerary

Day 01: Australia – Beijing

Depart from Australia to Beijing. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the hotel for your check in.

Day 02: Beijing – Temple of Heaven

After breakfast, your guide will take you to explore the Temple of Heaven, which is one of China’s ancient sacrificial buildings.  It symbolises the relationship between earth and heaven – the human world and God’s world.

Step back in time as you view the long wall enclosing the place where emperors of many dynasties held their Heaven Worship Ceremonies.

Day 03: Beijing – Great Wall

Today’s highlight is an excursion to the majestic “Great Wall “(Juyongguan Section), one of the Seven Wonders of the World! No, you can’t see it from outer space, but it is big – very big. You’ll get a chance to climb a portion of this 3,700 mile marvel.

And you’ll also visit one of the largest Jade Exhibitions in Asia, enroute.

Day 04: Beijing – Free Day

Today is a leisure day to see Beijing at your own pace. Get to know the city and its stunning sights – ask your guide for advice and make sure you treat yourself to some delicious local fare!

Day 05: Beijing – Bullet Train to Xi’An

This morning you’ll visit a Chinese Herbal Institute to learn about traditional Chinese medicine.

You then travel on the bullet train to Xi’an, a famous ancient city, which has been described as “like a living history book”. Our local representative will meet you at the North Xi’an Railway Station and will assist you with your transfer to the hotel.

Day 06: Xi’An – Terracotta Warriors

Today after breakfast you will visit the Terracotta Warriors. View the enigmatic ranks of the Terracotta Warriors in the company of our experienced local guide. You may have the opportunity of meeting the man who discovered the Warriors and learn about the moment they were uncovered by talking to one of the farmers who stumbled upon them in 1974. Visit the famous Moslem Street, where many delicious local snacks and souvenirs are available for purchase.

Day 07: Xi’An – Bullet train to Shanghai

Today you will travel on the bullet train to Shanghai. When you arrive in Shanghai, our local representative will meet you at the Railway Station and assist you with your transfer to the hotel.

Today is a leisure day to see Shanghai at your own pace. Get to know the city’s stunning sights and treat yourself to some delicious local fare! Ask your tour guide for some suggestions.

Day 09: Shanghai – Yichang

Today you’ll travel from Shanghai to Yichang by high-speed train.

On arrival, you’ll board your Yangtze River Cruise ship and settle in to your cabin before departure tomorrow. The Yangtze River is the longest in Asia and the third longest in the world. It is renowned not only for its impressive size, but also for the natural beauty that surrounds it. The river begins in the remote, mountainous region of Tibet and winds its way through stunning gorges, and lush and fertile regions, connecting with numerous lakes and waterways.

Day 10: Yangtze River Cruise

Enjoy your first day on the Yangtze River as the ship wends its way through spectacular scenery. This morning indulge in a beautiful breakfast buffet on board before joining a shore excursion to the Three Gorges Project. One of the largest construction projects undertaken by man, it is also the biggest hydroelectric power project in the world.

Day 11: Yangtze River Cruise

Today, we’ll enjoy a shore excursion to the mesmerising Shennong Stream. A tributary of the Yangtze, the Shennong flows through three beautiful gorges including the Mianzhu, Parrot and Longcangdong. Each gorge is renowned for its unique and stunning scenery. The Shennong Stream is also home to the Hanging Coffins – ancient coffins suspended high up on the limestone cliff faces, which contain the remains of descendants of the Tujia people. In the afternoon, return to the ship in time for lunch and enjoy the crew’s magnificent performance in the evening.

Day 12: Yangtze River Cruise

Today’s shore excursion will take you to the legendary Jade Emperor in Fengdu. Located on the northern bank of the Yangtze River, Fengdu is an ancient city with a time-honored history, it is known as the ‘Ghost City’ to most Chinese people. According to superstitious legend, the dead come to Fengdu Ghost City and the devils go to hell. Since the Tang Dynasty, forty-eight temples have been built in this place – such as the ‘Hall of the Jade Emperor’.

Day 13: Chongqing – Departure

Today you will disembark the cruise at Chongqing, which is known as the Mountain City in China. Subject to your departure flight time, you can explore this beautiful city before traveling to the airport for your flight home.

Deposit and  Payments

  • Secure your package with a deposit of $500 per person.
  • Pay a 2nd instalment of $1499 per person within the next 30 days.
  • You will then be invoiced for final payment 90 days prior to departure.

Please note that customers must book at least 90 days prior to departure to ensure your desired travel date and time.

How to extend your stay
Some customers like to enhance their holiday by extending their stay before/behind and/or post-tour. From $200 per person is applied for trip extension or early arrivals.

If you wish to do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Follow the “Book Now” prompts, until you reach the “Special Requests” field
  2. Here, please specify your preferred flight arrangements and if you require additional accommodation, with the number of nights needed.
  3. After finalising your purchase and submitting your booking form, a member of our Reservation team will be in contact with you via email to verify your request.

The additional cost for these land arrangements will be added to your final payment invoice, due 90 days prior to departure, and is strictly subject to availability.

Tipping

Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for services of the tour guides and drivers throughout the tour. We recommend to tip some extra for the guide and driver’s excellent service.

As this particular tour does not collect a ‘kitty’, it is entirely up to the individual whether or not you would like to tip locals for the services of things like taxis or when dining at restaurants. In these cases, we suggest you allow 10-20% of the value of the service as a tip. Again, it is not compulsory and entirely up to the individual.

Accommodation
The accommodation listed is subject to change. Any changes will be of an equal or higher standard. Bedding configurations (double or twin) are requests only. All efforts will be made to meet your preferences however any changes are beyond our control.

Visa & Passport information
It is the traveler’s responsibility to ensure they have a valid passport and visa. The passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the intended date of return and must have more than 2 blank pages.

The website of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Australia has detailed information on the eligibility of Australians for various visa types. For foreigners already travelling or residing in China, all visa queries should be directed to the Foreigners Entry and Exit Administration Section of the local Public Security Bureau (PSB).

Fingerprint scanning of foreign nationals (aged between 14 to 70 years) on arrival, commenced in 2017.

Tour Length
The total length of the tour in days includes time spent in flight and is subject to change depending on the flight schedule, please refer to the day by day itinerary for the time spent on land.

Physical condition
A good level of fitness and mobility is required for you to enjoy all aspects of the itinerary, as this is considered a fast-paced tour. While there is free time scheduled either in the morning or afternoon, there are many full days of sightseeing with minimal rest and some early starts. You will be required to walk up and down stairs, get on and off the coach and participate in scheduled sightseeing that may be conducted on uneven ground and terrain. Any physical ailments you may have must be disclosed at the time of booking to determine your suitability. If you have any form of walking aids, other than a walking stick or hiking poles, then this tour may not be suitable.

Asia Vacation Group shall not deliver a refund for any delay or change in program or expenses incurred or injury and damage due to airlines, accident, breakdown of transport and sickness.

In some cases, your chosen extra tours may be canceled by Asia Vacation Group due to force majeure you may choose to change to other alternative tour OR receive a coupon equal to the amount you paid for it. The difference in cost of the alternative tour will be paid by you or transferred to a coupon as applicable. This coupon is issued after the tour and is valid for two years. It is valid for any tour by Asia Vacation Group and cannot be redeemed for cash.

Flight Information

Airfare Information

  • Airline: Cathay Airlines, China Airlines or similar (20kg for checked baggage per passenger and 7kg hand luggage per passenger, 01-piece check-in baggage each person only
  • Some flights will require a minimum of 1 transit (maximum 2).
  • All tickets will include 20 kilos checked baggage per person, along with 7 kilos of hand luggage.
  • Despite the airlines baggage allowance, we recommend travelling with 20 kilos per person due to restrictions with internal flights (where applicable), as well as coach and train transportation. Also, you will be responsible for handling your luggage at all times as the services of porters is not included. If travelling over this amount, you will be liable for any excess baggage fees enforced by the airline, payable direct.
  • Once ticketed, flights are non-refundable. Any changes will be subject to the airline rules and change fees.
  • Full names as per passport (including all middle names) are required.
  • Any airline schedule changes or cancellations are beyond our control.
  • Any airline ‘extras’ such as pre-allocated seating is at your own arrangement (additional charges apply)

Premium Economy or Business Class upgrades 

  • Business Class upgrade available from an additional $3,000 per person (subject to availability).
